Welcome
Thank you for your interest in our congregation. If you haven’t attended a church with a traditional heritage, our worship services might seem a little strange to you. We do not gather to be entertained or to do something for God. We gather to be served by God. God serves us through his Word. He serves us with forgiveness through his representative, the pastor. He serves us through the sacraments, Baptism and the Lord’s Supper.
You can expect to hear God’s Word throughout the service. The liturgy, or order of service, is full of prayers, songs, readings, and responses based on God’s Word. Some of the songs and rituals will be unfamiliar, but they all focus our hearts on what our God has done for us.
What to Expect
What happens during the service?
At Beautiful Savior, We gather to receive God’s blessings, which come to us through God’s Word, and the sacraments (Baptism and Holy Communion). Our services are about an hour long, give or take ten minutes. Our worship is liturgical, meaning that it follows a similar pattern each week. The entire worship service is laid out in the bulletin so you can follow along. (The usher will be sure to get you one.) The liturgy includes spoken responses, sung responses, Scripture readings, hymns and other short songs, and is highlighted by a 20 minute long sermon from the pastor.
What should I wear?
Anything you feel comfortable in. Many members are dressed casually, but formal or casual, you won't stick out.
What about kids?
We love having children of all ages at our worship services. We believe that families worshiping together is important. If your kids do get restless and you need to regroup, you're welcome to use any part of the building.
